- USCIS Reached The FY 2025 H1-B Cap Through Initial Electronic Registrations
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced the final selection of H1-B number allocations for FY 2025. This is an important step in the visa application cycle for skilled foreign workers seeking employment opportunities in the United States.
From March 6 through March 25, 2024, employers electronically registered for the H1-B visa. The selection process determines the number of registered unique beneficiaries eligible for H1-B visas. The process highlights the program’s vital role in sourcing talent and innovative minds.
Checking your status
With this selection, registrants can now view their submission statuses in their online accounts. The submission statuses indicate whether a registration is selected for an H1-B cap petition. The online accounts of each registrant and each beneficiary registered will now display one of these statuses:
- Submitted – Your registration has been received and is now available for selection. If you have completed the initial selection process, this registration remains valid for selection in subsequent selections for the year submitted unless it is later revoked.
- Selected – This means you are a lucky beneficiary of the H1-B cap petition.
- Not Selected — This means you were not so lucky and are not eligible for an H1-B cap petition.
- Invalidated– failed payment – Your registration is invalid due to payment issues.
- Denied– duplicate registration – Your registration has been denied because multiple registrations were submitted for you.
- Deleted– Your registration record has been deleted and no longer exists online.
- Processing Submission — Your submission is still pending, and you may have to wait about 72 hours to view your details.
The next step
For the selected beneficiaries, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is now accepting petition submissions for H1-B visas for FY 2025. The petition submission period runs from April 1, 2024, to 30 June, 2024.
H1-B petitions are a great way for skilled professionals to work for US companies and contribute to the nation’s economic growth. However, the program is highly competitive if you are not chosen in the lottery, you may experience disappointment and uncertainty.
Petitioners must use the most up-to-date form I-129. They will also need to use new Lockbox locations and filing fees. A new filing fee rate came into effect on April 1, 2024.
Final words
The H1-B visa cap selection for FY 2025 marks a milestone in the yearly visa application cycle and reminds us that immigration reform is still a priority in the United States.
The H1-B visa is at the center of discussions about how to promote economic growth and innovation and provide skilled immigrants with opportunities. Despite the challenges and uncertainty, the H1-B visa plays an important role in America’s economic growth and global competitiveness today.
